New make-up I shouldn't have bought but I did…

And since I did, I feel like sharing. Is that OK? Thank GOODNESS.
So here goes…

Armani Maestro Foundation

Like many bloggers, I’ve long been a fan of Armani’s Luminous Silk foundation. The shades are beautiful, it provides plenty of coverage without ever looking over done and, as the name suggests gives a beautiful luminous silk finish to skin. When Maestro was released, I was torn. Obviously, as a beauty addict I was desperate to try it but could it really replace Luminous Silk in my heart? The short answer is, it hasn’t but it might. I should mention now, I am a girl who is wowed by science and this foundation is delivered BY A PIPETTE. That was almost enough to win me over. The consistency is totally different to Luminous Silk, instead of a traditional foundation texture, the pigment is suspended in oil (read the science bit here) but don’t let that scare you. The product feels light, airy and looks incredibly natural even though it can be built up to whatever coverage you need. Most importantly for me, it lasts. Still, on big nights out I’ve stuck by Luminous Silk, mostly out of habit. I think they work well as a duo. If you’re looking for a new luxe foundation, this is a great option but do try Luminous Silk while you’re at the counter. If you’re not ready to break away into the new formulas yet, you might be better off with the old standby.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation

Because I am impatient and easily sold on-counter, before Maestro came out, I picked up this new cream foundation compact from Chanel. I like it. It’s light, it’s portable and I love the packaging. It also looks amazing in my handbag. Does it look amazing on my skin? Meh. It looks good but I’m not sure amazing is the word. They’re not lying, it is light and hydrating but I don’t think it lasts as well as my Armani products. I tend to carry it around for touch ups in the day and it’s also in my in-flight make up kit. So while I like this, I don’t love it. But I do like Chanel. I’m a whore.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

Just to prove I’m not always destroying my credit card in Bloomingdales, one of my favourite recent drugstore purchases is the Maybelline BB Cream. I loved the Dr Jart+ formula when I got that earlier this year but most of the cheaper versions have been too orange for my poor, pale skin. This one? Not even a little bit. It’s my new go to for days when I can’t be arsed with a full face.

Nars Andy Warhol Debbie Harry Palette

Do I even need to justify this? You’re looking at true love right here, folks.

Smashbox The Masterclass Palette

I bought this from Sephora on a recent trip to Toronto with my equally make-up obsessed BFF and I haven’t looked back. I usually hate mixed product palettes but this is gorgeous and I’ve been using it a lot. The pay off in the eyeshadows is intense and it’s such good value for money. Which I keep telling myself over and over and over.

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara

Since summer finally fucked off and I’ve been able to wear something other than a waterproof mascara, this has been my favourite every day choice. It’s full, thick and fluffy but doesn’t smudge over the course of the day, plus it doesn’t cost a million dollars but it does look like it might. Well played, Smashbox.

Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Mascara

Holy SHIT this is amazing. My Torontonian friend turned me on to this and I can’t get enough of it. I love it. You apply the black mascara first, then a layer of the white fiber builder and then another coat of the black mascara. When you’re finished, you’ll have lashes that would put a Disney princess to SHAME. It’s my new night-time drama fave. Although, one slightly inappropriate word to the wise, I recently wore it during some, cough, sexytimes and any sort of, cough, activity seemed to make it clump a little bit although not run. If you’re going to get sweaty, stick to Benefit They’re Real.

Benefit Watt’s Up

I’ve had this for a while but when I first picked it up in summer, I was not smitten but for some reason, as I’ve moved into my warmer fall face, it’s been a staple for night’s out. The warm champagne finish looks great against a smokey eye and neutral lip although you really don’t need the sponge applicator. Just swipe on and smudge with your fingers. Lovely.

  1. I loved prolumiere before I started using bare minerals. I like the sound of the Armani foundation and I love a new mascara recommendation! Hope I can get it in the UK x
